God has given us a vision, a delightful picture of his purpose - a bridegroom coming for his bride, a love song, a love feast...God courts us patiently and lovingly; he woos us diligently and imaginatively. No lover has ever given his loved one so much beauty. What is a basket of flowers compared to a grove of birches, a stand of pines, a meadow of daisies? God is extravagant in his love... he says just come to the wedding feast; let me look at your loveliness....He has added all the ceremony, all the sights, smells, tastes, textures to help his courting of us, his bride.
